Pee in the Shower, Save the World: Brazilian Group

(Newser) – A Brazilian environmental group is running TV ads encouraging citizens to save water by urinating in the shower, the AP reports. SOS Mata Atlantica says a household can save more than 1,000 gallons a year by going No. 1 straight into the drain. The humorous ad is “a way to be playful about a serious subject,” the group says. It ends with children's voices making this exhortation: "Pee in the shower! Save the Atlantic rainforest!"

@bewilderbeast - HUH?? only a tiny percentage of homes are built with grey-water vs black-water systems. about 99.9% of homes in the US (the average newser reader being american) is built on a single sewage line system, thus shower water and solid waste water go down the same line...

No, no, no, it doesn't. That's the point. Waste water and toilet sludge have different paths, and the urine with the solids make much more volume and makes it slower and harder to process solid waste. This is a great, easy idea that can have a real, immediate impact. I'm peeing from today (with an easy conscience - before I used to sneak it when no-one was around).

I'd like to pee right alongside the girl taking the shower in the picture.
