Beastie Boy Adam Yauch has had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in his salivary gland and is recovering at home, Rolling Stone reports. The rapper says he had the procedure a week and a half ago, and spent just one night in the hospital. Though his recovery is going well, Yauch dreads the “torture” of upcoming radiation treatment.

Yauch describes the treatment, to start soon, as “blasting you with some kind of beam for a few minutes a day, 5 days a week, for about 7 weeks.” Still, he is confident and warmly thanks his fans and fellow artists for their support. “I do think that all of the well wishes have contributed to the fact that my treatment and recovery are going well,” he says. “Much love back at all of you!” (More Adam Yauch stories.)
