CIA Threatened to Kill, Rape Detainee Families: Report

Share

(AP) – A newly declassified CIA report says interrogators threatened to kill the children of a Sept. 11 suspect. The document, released today by the Justice Department, says one interrogator said a colleague had told Khalid Sheikh Mohammed that if any other attacks happened in the United States, "We're going to kill your children."

Another interrogator allegedly tried to convince a different terror suspect detainee that his mother would be sexually assaulted in front of him—though the interrogator in question denied making such a threat. The report, written in 2004, examined CIA treatment of terror detainees following the Sept. 11 attacks. It has been declassified as part of a lawsuit brought by the ACLU.

if you want to argue that we are morally superior to terrorists, we have to maintain our moral superiority to terrorists. breaking recognized international laws is not the way to do it.

yes, lets offer them tea and crumpets and ask if they will just make nice with us as they continue to plan against us. Maybe we can even fit in a nice game of cribbage or yahtzee if time allows.

You mean they said mean things to the 'guys'. First of they never got a trial so there was no conviction to prove they were terrorist. Then they are beaten, tortured and had their family threatened. With all the poor intel the US used during this time there is no way to be sure that these guys were not just picked up and forced to confess they were part of some terror ring.

@thinker: These people shouldn't even be protected under the Geneva convention, but that said, that "poor" intel, is the same info that not only the repub's but the democrats saw, and BOTH parties signed off on it.
