Electric City to feature post-apocalyptic world

(NEWSER) - Tom Hanks will soon release his long-in-the-works futuristic animated series—where else?—on the web. Twenty episodes of Electric City, just four minutes or so each, will premiere on Yahoo this spring. The series features an apparently peaceful city in a post-apocalyptic world, and deals with political and social issues relevant today. "On the surface, the Electric City is utopia and under the surface, Electric City is secrets and heavy-handed state control," says the head of original programming at Yahoo. "This is perfect for a lean-forward audience who likes to utilize the medium of the Internet." More»

• Drew Barrymore got engaged over the holidays to art consultant Will Kopelman, whom she has been linked to for almost a year, People and E! report. The couple was on vacation in Sun Valley, Idaho, when Kopelman popped the question with a nearly-4-carat Graff diamond ring. This will be the third marriage for Barrymore; her rep has not yet officially confirmed the engagement, but Us has what it calls an official engagement photo.

(NEWSER) - America’s robot assassins have all been infected with a “keylogger” virus that tracks every move their pilots make, sources tell Wired . The military isn’t sure how the computers at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada—the nerve center that controls most drone missions—got infected, or who they might be sending their information to, if anyone.
