(Newser) – Glenn Beck may have reached a new low last night when he implied President Obama’s plans to use AmeriCorps make him the equivalent of a fascist dictator, Gawker reports. One guest, Vets for Freedom vice chairman David Bellavia, fanned the flames by saying, “I’m not comparing my president to Saddam Hussein or Hitler,” then promptly compared Obama’s plans to Hussein’s creation of a group of loyalists in 1991.

“You said, ‘I’m not comparing,’ but you are,” Beck responded. “This is what Hitler did with the SS. He had his own people, he had the brownshirts. This is what Saddam Hussein—so, you are comparing that.” The Fox News host later insisted, “I’m not suggesting anything, I’m asking questions.” Beck's resigned conclusion: “This is what I've been warning for a very long time.”

Funny how they pick a man like Husien, whom America put in power and then when he wouldn't comply with their demands, the Bush administration decided to get rid of him. Now they are comparing the President of the United States to these evil men. So, who do you compare Bush too...afterall, he was the one that wanted to implement the use of our own troops on American soil for the use of border watches and security in NY streets after 911. He started the round up of Muslin people or should I saw "look like Muslim", etc. He also decided to listen in on peoples conversations in the US and had anyone arrested who spoke ill of him. Remember the old guy who said that he didn't agree with Bush's policies and he had agents swarm his home. All in the name of his "brown shirt" group he called HOME LAND SECURITY. So far, I see Barack Obama creating programs that will HELP the American people, not hinder them and certainly not invade their privacy and control them. Reply

@dr.z as a 10 year Navy vet, I don't hate the troops. My grandfather served in Korea and took multiple bullets for this country. I was deployed on 9/11 and we in theater from Australia on 9/13. I saw the first missile strikes that were a result of the attack on our country. My point was that the programs listed by Adapt as negatives toward bush are still be carried out and even expanded under President Obama. That is a little fact that left likes to leave out when they talk about wire tapping, spying on your country, rendition, indefinite detention, torture (which has just been shifted to Barghram Air Base in Afghan) and Home Land Security. The Democrats of the 1960s were conservatives, not liberals, and those states are now Republican states. Read up on "Southern Strategy" sometime.
