Yes, the $1,100 Earbuds Sound Pretty Awesome

JH Audio in-ear headphones offer near-perfect sound, for a price

(Newser) – Sure, the new JH Audio JH13PRO custom earbuds cost $1,100, Jackson Lynch writes in Wired, but you get what you pay for. “The three sets of twin drivers funnel fantastically detailed sound directly to your cochleae,” Lynch writes. “The proprietary drivers—two for the highs, two for the midrange and two for the lows—deliver nearly spotless sound.”

“The JH13s are terribly expensive,” Lynch concedes, “but they also make for the most luxurious listening this side of heaven.” He put the earbuds through a wide range of musical formats, and they "delivered fantastic sound separation with uncompromising booming bass, rattling mids, and crystalline highs." In short, the headphones are “arguably the best-sounding personal audio earbuds we've yet listened to.”

It's all about how fast the driver can respond to the impulses of the sound, and the twin drivers in each range eliminate virtually all harmonic distortion, allowing you to hear deeper into the mix than ever before. - JH Audio founder Jerry Harvey

I actually like the skull candys a lot. They are ten fold better than the buds that come with ipods. Plus they have a lifetime warranty. I found them on sale for 1/2 off so I bought to pairs and I will never need to buy head phones again in theory.

Finding ear buds that sound good is not a problem. Philips SHE5920 Virtual Surround Sound In-Ear Headphones sound great. I want them to conquer the staying-in-the-ear-without-causing-pain problem. I have never found a pair that stay in my ear as well as these while also sounding great. Yes, I know different sized cups come with some brands, but they still fall out eventually.
