Paris Keeps Cut Hair to Dodge DNA Testing

(Newser) – The hair snipped from Paris Jackson's head last week won't be falling into the hands of the genetic paparazzi. The Las Vegas salon that cut the 11-year-old's hair carefully swept up, bagged, and handed over every last strand, apparently to stop potential thieves from running a DNA test on the locks to determine who Paris's biological father is, the Daily Mail reports.

You can't determine the father from cut hair. Nuclear DNA is found in the root of the hair but not the shaft. Only mitochondrial DNA is found in the shaft and that only comes from the mother. This has been your genetics lesson for the day. Reply

are we sure of who her mother is? after all the headlines and all the stories, i'm pretty sure anything is possible, and they're just playing it as safe as possible.

its real stupid, but probably true....its a shame its not in her hands to know this information if/when she wants to - 'genetic papparzi' should go find a real job
