Jaycee kidnapper would have seen boys as threat, experts say

(Newser) – Cops investigating Jaycee Lee Dugard's case think alleged kidnapper Phillip Garrido may have killed any male children he had with her, they tell the Sun. Though Dugard bore Garrido two daughters, "It doesn't make sense that a healthy young girl not on birth control only conceived twice in that time," says one investigator of her 18-year captivity.

Experts tell police the “self-confessed pedophile” isn’t attracted to boys, and would see sons as threatening his dominance down the line. “As they grew up and got stronger, he'd get older and weaker,” a detective says. “To Garrido, any boys on the scene may be construed as a future threat.”

(NEWSER) - Jaycee Dugard was Phillip Garrido's fifth victim—so how did Garrido never become a suspect in her disappearance? That's what the El Dorado County District Attorney's office plans to look into. The DA's office yesterday released undistributed materials related to the case, including a map of Garrido's former victims, all four of whom were also attacked in South Lake Tahoe, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Garrido's known attacks include a 1972 rape and kidnapping and three more assaults in 1976, one of which led to his conviction on kidnapping and rape charges. More»

(NEWSER) - A former employee of US contractor KBR recounted a horrifying ordeal in which she was drugged, gang-raped in Iraq by other workers, and then locked in a shipping container by two company guards so she couldn't go to authorities. Jamie Leigh Jones, now 26, testified in a Texas courtroom that she was "scared to death" when she was shut up in the container in 2005 without food or water after she reported the attack to her supervisors. "I'm banging on the door, I say, 'I need to get out of here. I need to contact my dad,'" Jones said in testimony in her lawsuit against the company and former parent company Halliburton. More»
