Man Arrested for Kissing His Own Daughter

Italian tourist faces 15 years in prison after Brazil pool incident

(Newser) – A controversy is brewing in Brazil over a 48-year-old Italian tourist who was arrested for touching and kissing his own 8-year-old daughter, the BBC reports. A couple reported seeing the man touching a young girl inappropriately at a hotel pool, apparently unaware that the girl was his daughter. Under a strict new law designed to combat child abuse, the man faces 8 to 15 years in prison.

The man has been in jail for nearly a week; an attempt this weekend to free him failed. Another will likely be made tomorrow. The misunderstanding happened in part because the man’s wife is Brazilian, so the child has darker skin than he does. His wife says she wouldn’t hesitate to take the daughter’s side if he had touched her inappropriately, but says she was by the pool the entire time.

No, this is the type trash that happens when a people as a group over react to the Pedophile issue. They pass laws the pedophiles do not break but a loving parent may break without knowing and all it takes is one person to over react to the kiss and call filing a complaint. My daughter was sick most of her young life, I would lay in the hospital bed beside her for hours brushing her hair and she loved it, in truth with all the needles and tubes it was the only way to get her to rest, she was very ill. Under the laws in Brazil and many other countries including the US could I also have been charger? The answer is yes, if a person had over reacted and called 911 without checking to see what was truly happening

This is one of the most ignorant things I have seen. People need to stop overracting and use some common sense. The police in Brazin are morons for not getting to the issue before arresting this father and are bigger idiots for not letting him out already.
