(Newser) – A British diplomat was found severely beaten and strangled in his Jamaica home in what police believe was a homophobic attack, reports the Telegraph. A note was found with John Terry's body referring to the 65-year-old married father as gay, using a Jamaican slur. “This is what will happen to ALL gays," the note warned. Terry was found naked with a cord and clothing around his neck. He was honorary consul on the Caribbean island for 13 years.

Government leaders in Jamaica have publicly decried "the sodomites" in their midst and tacitly endorse the beatings that have been going on there for years. It's sad it takes a white guy being beaten for it to finally make international news, but maybe people will realize now that Jamaica is not worth their tourism $$ until people become a bit more enlightened and a bit less murderous and liable to beat anyone they think is gay.
