(Newser) – Treatment for breast cancer has forced a "deeply disappointed" Maura Tierney to withdraw from a leading role in the NBC series Parenthood, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The show was originally scheduled to start airing this month, but production was pushed back to allow Tierney, 44, to undergo treatment. The former ER and NewsRadio star said in a statement she and her doctors are "confident that the outcome of her treatments will be positive."

Well, I hope she pulls through this. It's a hard thing to go through and it's just important to NEVER give up. Smoking either, you gotta have something to keep you from going insane. My grandmother and her sisters all died of Breast Cancer-treatments weren't as advanced back then and none of them smoked. My mother-in-law always says, you gotta die of something eventually and this way I keep from going to jail for killing my husband, if I quit. She's a hoot.

OH NO, My Mom died from breast cancer, it's terrible, just an awful disease for woman!! First my Mom had breast cancer and the Doctors treated it by that terrible operation to remove it and then the radiation and chemo and after that the Doctors give u 5 years to make sure that the cancer does not reappear and in the 4th year, my Mom got back aches and they found out that the cancer spread to her vertabrae and then spread throughout her body for the last 3 years, really painful and terrible, and she was on the stongest pain meds. but lots of time screamed in pain in the last year of her life. My Mom was only 43 years old when she died. Good Luck Maura. And you know what My Mom did give up smoking and when she got the bad news she said hell with it and started smoking again, so Northensun, great we all know you're an actress or whatever now, on a set with her in Canada and she smoked one after another, but did u read the story, it was Breast cancer and NOT lung Cancer, so shut up. Smoking does not give u breast cancer, even though i don't smoke I find it very weird that you scolded her for smoking when she is going through More Hell then you know right now but once again you wanted to let everyone know you're an actress or work in Movies. Big deal as if we care!!
