Dancin' DeLay: This Is the 'Real Tom'

(Newser) – America is getting to see a whole different side of Tom DeLay on Dancing with the Stars, and he wants you to know it's the real Tom DeLay. Maureen Dowd chats up the man once dubbed the “meanest man in Congress” and ponders the meaning of his transformation. “I’m being more feminine and a little prissy," he tells her in a chipper confessional. "My brain is telling my hips, ‘We don’t do that.’ It’s not like a speech or a press conference. This is exposing your soul.”

"It might be a sign of the apocalypse," Dowd writes, "a frilly Tom DeLay shimmying away from an indictment and onto Dancing. It’s certainly a blazing reminder that in our lowbrow-loving, no-attention-span culture, most any scoundrel can do the redemption tango simply by being a good sport." And speaking of tango, DeLay tells his new friend that the tango, up next in the competition, will be even more the real Tom DeLay: "Cheryl says the tango’s macho, arrogant, and aggressive, and I said, ‘That’s me.’"

(NEWSER) - This has got to be some sort of record: Jersey Shore and its cast members have now racked up 15 lawsuits in two years. The latest, courtesy of Courthouse News Service : A woman celebrating her niece's birthday at a bar in Seaside Heights, NJ, claims that drunk Jersey Shore cast members caused a brawl that eventually involved club security and show security. In the chaos, she was struck and hit her head, resulting in "severe and permanent injuries," according to her lawsuit. More»

Messer has told friends she's "thrilled," and hopes the coming set of babies will help her nab her own reality show just like Kate Gosselin, says the magazine. (NEWSER) - The network that has brought us more than we ever wanted to know about the Kardashians has a new family to add to its roster: the Eastwoods. As in Clint. Though the actor won't be a regular player on the reality show, which will provide a look inside the life of "Hollywood royalty," TMZ reports that the 81-year-old will appear a few times. The rest of the time, celebmongers will follow wife Dina, 46, their daughter Morgan, 15, and aspiring actress Francesca Fisher, Clint's 18-year-old kid.
