(Newser) – Mackenzie Phillips’ other stepmom is none too happy with her claim of an incestuous relationship with dad. Michelle Phillips, John’s ex-wife and bandmate, says Mackenzie told her about the affair in 1997—"then she called me back and said, ‘You know I’m joking.’ I said it wasn’t funny. Mackenzie has a lot of mental illness,” Michelle tells the Hollywood Reporter. “She’s had a needle stuck up her arm for 35 years.”

“John was a bad parent, and a drug addict. But [expletive] his daughter?” Michelle continues. “If she thinks it’s true, why isn’t she with a good psychiatrist on a couch? I have every reason to believe it’s untrue.” She adds that her own daughter, Chynna, is releasing an album this week and “the whole thing is timed. Mackenzie is jealous of her siblings, who have accomplished a lot and did not become drug addicts.” She also criticizes Oprah's "unconscionable" decision to allow Mackenzie on her show.

Its probably easier for her to talk about it since he is dead. She accepts some responsibility in the sick and twisted relationship she had with her own father as an adult.Probably true ,and a way to make some money may be a motive (To come forward about it at all).Seems she has a lot of courage and a mental illness.Maybe it will help another person in that type of a position get help.

Name a lie that has killed US soldiers for nothing or put people in undue panic and risk - like arbitrarily raising the terrorist threat level.
