(Newser) – Jaycee Lee Dugard will likely testify against the couple who held her captive for 18 years, says her family’s lawyer. “Jaycee will, in all likelihood, be a witness for the prosecution,” he told CBS’ Early Show. “She’s aware of that and understands that. That day is a long ways away, so she’s got a lot of time to continue with the mending and the healing she’s going through.”

He also said Jaycee is doing “remarkably well.” The 29-year-old has been kept in seclusion, seeing only her mother, daughters, and other family members. “All of us are doing very well under the circumstances,” says her mother, asking for a “zone of privacy and security.”

And her therapists may help her to see it will be a part of her recovery from that hell.

Good for her. It takes a brave individual to face the devil.
