(Newser) – A 14-year-old British girl died yesterday after receiving the vaccine against human papillomavirus, and the National Health Service has quarantined the batch after three other girls reported unpleasant side effects. Her school is telling parents the girl had a “rare but extreme reaction” to the shot, which is commonly administered to teen girls in the US, UK and elsewhere and is intended to protect against cervical cancer.

how ironic, a girl dies from somethng that was supposed to prevent a life-threatening disease. well everything comes with a risk, surgery will not always work, even if done safely without any problems. vaccines can have the same effect. The irony in it is just baffling though...

About 4070 women will die this year in the U.S. from cervical cancer. The ACS indicates that cervical cancer was the leading cause of death for American women before pap tests, which helped reduce cervical cancer deaths by 74%. The vaccine has been given to 40 million girls so far, and has been possibly linked to 32 deaths (unconfirmed). I would encourage my daughter to get vaccinated.

Wait I have already heard a similar story about this exact vaccine. It has been a while back, and they are still using it. Why was it not taken off the market yet?
