This kind of thing has gone on forever. Before video phones when the perpetrators were caught and the parents were confronted the attitude was "kids will be kids" but now when confronted with the violence first hand people can not deny the ferocity and barbarism. This is a good thing, perhaps now we can address human violence where it begins with children instead of ignoring it until they turn into adults. Reply

This is nothing new, I can’t remember where it was but MSNBC (I think) did a story on a girl who was basically kidnapped, beaten and humiliated by five of her so called "friends". YouTube, facebook, whatever the method of delivery it really doesn’t matter. Kids seem to have a mistaken impression that the internet is a free domain where the rule of law does not exist. I say slap the girls with the max punishment possible. Teen or not this is unacceptable. Reply

Doc_Z and blah have said it. Teens have been rebelious and defiant for decades. James Dean anyone? The difference is now world has gotten MUCH smaller. I can NEAR-INSTANTLY know what's going on in a room across the globe, 100 years ago, not so easy. With that being said our society is so contradictory. While we have this religious movement and everyone's church is doing well enough to get a jumbo-tron screen, our society is more inclined to violence. We value force and aggression. See when one can't resolve disputes with rational, reason, intelligent thought, and logic, one can just FORCE the issue. Amazing!! We wonder where our kids get it from. They get it from watching this nation WRONGLY invade another. They get it from phrases like "we don't negotiate with terrorists." They get it fro the concept of an all-powerful, all-loving - 100% PURE love-containing- God will f*ck you up if you don't do as He commands. If God is Alpha and Omega, Beginning and End, and all things in between, wouldn't that make God He AND She, why the need to attach a gender. Gravity is universal. There is no air on the moon, but there is gravity. I don't feel the need to attach a gender to gravity to understand it, respect it, obey its rules, and appreciate it. I don't need to mention gravity -as many times as I can in one sentence- every day I wake: "Oh gravity, we thank you, gravity, for being so majestic, gravity, and through your power, gravity, I know that gravity is my rock and salvation." Personally, I'm suspicious of ANYONE that mentions my full name more than twice in a sentence; it seems as though you're trying to kiss my ass or threaten me. I ask again, what position on a football team would Jesus play? How inclined would Jesus be to put the leather on someone? Reply

This is why the US lost the Olympics. Not that our youth is any more criminal than any other country, but our wealth gives them the opportunity to film their stupidity. That Chicago beating tape was not a good advertisement for the city, especially if you read about the daily conditions in that school. Reply
