Jon to Larry: My Kids Need 'Normal Childhood'

Gosselin talks 'epiphany' with King, admits 'mistakes'

Share

(Newser) – Jon Gosselin defended his decision to fight Jon and Kate Plus 8 last night on CNN's Larry King Live, saying it’s not healthy for his kids because “we're going through a divorce right now, and I don't think it should be televised.” Sure, they’ve been on the show for four years already, but “they’re 5 and 8 now; let them experience a normal childhood.”

Kate had earlier slammed Jon in a statement, saying he had a change of heart only when producers decided to give him a lesser role. He “never expressed any concerns to me about our children being involved in the show and, in fact, is on the record as saying he believes the show benefits our children and was taping on Friday with the kids.” When King brought this up, Jon said he meant it at the time, but “I can make mistakes as well.”

how about just canceling the show all together? the kids need a normal childhood and we don't have to hear about john and kate anymore. Reply

Yep, get rid of that train wreck of a show. It has just become a cheap reality show. Jon and Kate have become such media whores they don’t know how to do anything else. Sad really, they started off as wholesome parents.

That would be, you know, the right thing to do, but this has become such a cash-cow for TLC I doubt they'll let it go without a fight. The Learning Channel has come so far!

well, there's nothing like closing the stable gate after the horse got out. what's his gripe? he should have protested a whole lot earlier if he really had the kids as his priority. it's a crap show anyway and both he and kate are accountable. Reply

Here's my suggestion to settle this current tiff in the Jon and Kate, et. al., saga: Give him four kids and give her four kids each chosen by the TV audience using a 900 number. Reply
