GOP Revels in US Setbacks

1-2 punch of job stats, Olympic decision gets a third stage

Share

(Newser) – From worse-than-expected unemployment numbers to Chicago’s foiled Olympic bid, today was a lousy day for America, but Republicans reacted as if Christmas had come early. Soon after the jobs numbers hit, Glenn Thrush of Politico got a slew of GOP press releases. “Rep. Mike Pence literally hit the send button at 8:30 am, the moment the announcement” hit, says Thrush.

“We are reminded yet again that wasteful government spending is not the solution,” he wrote. Within seconds of Chicago’s loss, Republicans lit up Twitter. “Actually, Obama got the flowers, not even the bronze,” crowed one GOP operative. Newt Gingrich summed it all up, tweeting, “President Obama fails to get the Olympics while unemployment goes to 9.8% Iran continues nuclear program. America needs focused leadership.”

Doc - I don't think they hate America. They just hate themselves. Lately I've started to view the Repubs as if they were Daniel from the Karate Kid 3 - so insanely pissed they aren't where they want to be that their decision-making process goes down the crapper. This is the most EPIC temper tantrum I've ever seen and it just sucks that it's on such a massively national scale.

We don't hate America. We are laughing at the MSM who have for the past week reported how they think Obama will win over the IOC. Obama is our president, not our savior. He is human and at times will fail just like the rest of us. It was a calculated risk and I admire him for trying.
