Paris to PETA: Pig Better Off With Me Than as Bacon

Hilton escalates feud, says she treats 'pets like children'

Share

(Newser) – Paris Hilton is still squealing with excitement over her new miniature piglet—“It’s a girl!” she tells Us—but she’s not pleased with PETA, which called her a “wretched example” for treating her pets “as disposable.” Not true, the heiress says: “I treat my pets like children. I think it's a lot better for the pig to be home with me than be made into bacon.”

Wow, I hate to give this girl any credit for anything, ever, but she does seem to treat her pets like little kids. It's pathetic and humerous, and I doubt the pets like it, but it is better than becoming bacon. Reply

I think I would choose bacon and die with dignity. I mean really, god damn.

despite the pig trucks that used come into my cousin's neighborhood in the early am, slaughterhouse bound, and that by evening pm a stench enveloped the whole neighborhood, i swore of all things pork, i returned to bacon and all things pork. with the hype over veal, i have not eaten baby, emaciated and deprived calves since sometime in the '70's. at the height of peter singer's books i swore off all things beef. until i smelled a charcoaled broiled steak on a hot summer day. i admit i am a weak-willed hypocrite - but i still can't eat veal. i should know better and i do. yet i can't seem to extricate myself from a carnivore mindset. my failing, my weakness. good for paris for bringing home the pig and not the bacon.
