Mexico City Puts 1,300 Cops on a Diet

Mustn't give up tortas , but told to mix in some veggies now and then

(Newser) – With seven of every 10 members of its force obese, Mexico City’s police department is putting some 1,300 cops on a diet. They were put on scales in public today, and given advice for dieting in a city known for its street food, AFP reports.

“We can’t ask them to stop eating tortas (big Mexican sandwiches),” one official says. “We can tell them that if they eat a torta today, they have to balance it in the next meal with some vegetables.”

You ever watch the spanish networks? The studio audiences are heavyset. Of course that could be an American diet, but hey some shows might be broadcasted from southern nations. I might have to go check the obesity rates in our latin neighbors. Anyway, 7 out of 10!?! Reply

Haha, Hollywood should take a tip from this and air a "Bad (fat) cop, no donut!" version for an American reality show about cops here needing to go on a diet!

Yeah, but I would have guessed churros instead of tortas. Guess there are cultural differences after all lol. =p
