Claims he has an anti-US agenda go well beyond Bush-loathing

(Newser) – Liberals questioned George W Bush's legitimacy and wanted him to fail, writes Michael Tomasky, so what's the difference between those Bush haters and the birthers, teabaggers, and "paranoid" “committed conservatives” who Tomasky writes are way “off the continuum” of political debate over Barack Obama’s presidency? No one thought “he was secretly out to destroy the US.”

“Liberals assumed that Bush was doing what he, his team and their supporters believed was the right thing,” Tomasky writes in the Guardian. “There was none of this Manchurian Candidate business” peddled by conservatives “certain that they represent ‘real’ American values” and that Obama is “an ideological Typhoid Mary, a carrier of unknowable and barely comprehensible infections.” But there’s nothing to be done: Obama could leave office with everything hunky-dory, Tomasky writes, and they "would still believe we'd escaped state ownership of everything and one-world government by a whisker.”

if he could erase the deficit in a day, I would be more apt to believe in his progressive agenda. However, if he blamed someone else for raising it, while doubling the deficit him self, I would think that he's a liar and hate him.

If the person in question is a politician, guess what. He/she is a liar. I'm not saying Obama doesn't deserve to be questioned about his policies. I think he did dupe the American people by promising change from the normal SOPs of Washington politics, but I think to succeed you have to play the game like everyone else.

Well, I'm not a Republican or part of the GOP, but there are some of us out there who actually do believe in a laissez faire free market capitalistic system, and we believe Obama is threatening that. I was never part of a party that was in power, so you argument doesn't work on me. I'm not 'outraged' that one party or another party is in power. I actually believe what I say I believe and have intellectual disagreements with Obama's philosophy of government. And I'm not a racist.

One world government is coming--whether a Bush or an Obama occupies the White House. Plenty of us disliked Bush and knew full well the damage that he was causing to the constitution, the economy and our civil liberties. The problem with Obama is that he is continuing the same war-mongering that we had under Bush--while pushing us toward socialism at home. At the end of the day, these guys have a lot in common (membership in the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Bilderberger group for starters). In my opinion, we've gone from the frying pan into the fire, and it's all a matter of degrees. Reply

We might as well carry on our own conversation here for as much as other people will take interest and/or instantly ridicule these ideas but know this; we have to be winning. (I hope) The glory days of the Bilderberg group are over. (it was on MSNBC this year when they met) What I mean to say is they're just modern monarchy. (You know of whom I speak im sure) They're just playing a game their great grand daddys started and their only real power is money. You know. I know. I met someone in Austin reading Rockefeller's memoirs, when I asked her about it she said something along the lines of knowing the enemy. He called the internet the greatest threat because it has taken away their power. Fanatic nationalism is dying (WW2?), and I have a hard time seeing anyone, especially someone with as little power as our president creating an SA or SS. Let them call us loonies, let them believe in their parties and put their faith in political leaders that have no power, and votes that don't count. There are plenty of people who know whats up. Thomas Jefferson, 1779 Statute for Religious Freedom. "The civil government functions with complete success by the total separation of Church from the State.” - Pres. James Madison, letter to Gene Garman, 1819. "...no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." - Article VI, Section 3, US Constitution "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press..." - First Amendment, US Constitution "As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion..." - 1797 Treaty Of Tripoli, Article 11 "Religions are all alike - founded upon fables and mythologies." - Pres. Thomas Jefferson Is that clear enough for you? America was not founded by religious men, nor was it founded by on anything resembling religious principles. In both the Articles of Confederation and the US Constitution itself, the only remote reference to God or religion is in the date "...in the Year of our Lord...", which was simply common practice at the time. Any talk of taking our schools and government "back" to religious practices and principles is not only historically inaccurate but, in my opinion, unpatriotic, considering what the Founding Fathers stood for when they created this country.

OOOO I sooo agree and come here for the same reasons. Still, im trying to be optimistic, surely we're making some headway right? Not on here I mean but in the mainstream. Look what people bought into 20 years ago. 30 years ago? 40, 50 years ago? Hell my mother was SURE the Russians where going to nuke us and destroy the world. Turns out they thought the same and we were both afraid of our shadows. Yes, I believe hes mostly misinformation but Alex J at least gets people thinking out of the box. Honestly, the liberal media and "committed liberals" questioned and harped on everything that had to do with Bush, Cheney, the GOP and conservatives in general for 8+ years. Everyone from President Obama to Michael Moore to Larry King to Nancy Pelosi have had ill things to say about Rush, Hannity, Beck, O'Reilly, and pretty much every conservative in office and every outspoken conservative voice. Bush, at one time, had the backing of nearly the whole country with a 92% approval rate, because the people wanted him to succeed, at a time of crisis for our country. He earned his unpopularity with an incompetent and arrogant performance. Obama, took over at another time of crisis, resulting from aforementioned arrogant incompetence, and was given no chance by knee-jerk reactionary right wingers to do his job, without their shrill, unreasonable, disruptions.

First of all, I am a conservative before a Republican and much like the "religious whackos" I find both parties to be equal disappointing, and will give credit when and where it is due, and criticize things I don’t believe in. Gotta love that First Amendment right. You argument lacks merit due to the fact that I am not religiously driven in my conservatism, but am driven by my my love of the America our founding fathers wanted for us, my love of our constitution, and my love of living in a capitalist, free-market society. I believe in separation of church and state and do not take a politically active position in social issues as I am moderate/independent in those view points. I however am deeply conservative on a fiscal basis. Bush is not my mistake, as I wasn’t old enough to vote him into office the first time around, and I didn’t vote for him for his second term. Obama’s leap towards socialism has me sickened and disappointed, but I didn’t expect he was going to be a president I admired… I long for the days when Character Was King, the days of my childhood when Reagan was in office and tax cuts were issued. You have to love this notion that one should work hard to support others. I don’t understand it! My American Dream is to bust my ass so that someone else can have the things they feel entitled to?? There goes work ethic right out the door. Reply

This so-called socialism you speak of is just the American people doing for themslelves what the corporations won't do. Your entire argument leaves out the facts associated with corporate greed choking the life out of middle class and poor America. If your health care costs go down, won't you have more of your money to keep for yourself? Why is it truely American if corporations are allowed to rake 35% off the top of our health care bill, but not so if the people of America do health care for themselves at a 4% cost of overhead?

Reader you are right where the rich and powerful want you. Your self-induced fear, and your willingness to share it with others keeps you at the mercy of those who want to own and operate your government and its military. They start and fight wars in the name of your fear, and, in the case of Iraq for example, they do it for profit. They do it to ensure all of us and our children will continue to put our tax dollars into their corporate coffers. It's been going on since the dawn of civilization. I am much more concerned about people who live their lives from the viewpoint of their fears than crooked or corrupt politicians, because it's the fear of the people that enables corruption.
