Hulu Fees Likely in 2010

News Corp. talks subscription model; paywall unlikely

(Newser) – The days of free TV shows on Hulu are likely ending: A News Corp. exec says “it’s time to start getting paid for broadcast content online,” adding that “Hulu concurs with that.” Asked by Broadcasting & Cable what exactly that means, Chase Carey was vague: No timeline, but 2010 is likely; a paywall is not the answer; and a mobile version of the site is a potential moneymaker, as are Hulu-only TV previews.

Capitalism at it's finest. Another provider(s) will pop up to fill the demand for free video that Hulu will no longer supply.

Morons. Why can they just put a few more advertisements in? It works for TV - just use the same freakin' business model they've been using for 50 years!

Yeah, msnbc has ads in its web video streams. I can use miro (with no ads) or the web stream. Either one works for me. Hulu is going to price itself out of an otherwise free and sustainable marketing strategy.
