Missing Man Sees Self on TV, Solves Case

60-year-old at homeless shelter recognizes photo

Share

(Newser) – A Colorado missing-persons case has wrapped up neatly after a 60-year-old man recognized his photo during a TV announcement. Marvin Allen Fry had wandered out of a hospital and ended up at a homeless shelter for about a week until he saw the announcement about himself and alerted shelter personnel, notes dscriber. Fry showed signs of “severe confusion and disorientation,” shelter personnel told Wheat Ridge city authorities.

Nice headline. Kinda redundant in a neat way. Reply

It is a good ending to this story. Unfortunately, I doubt most people in shelters have something like this to look forward to. Reply

@dive - it depends on programs offered. the one i work at enrolls residents in ged programs, offers tutoring to children whose families are there, helps with resume building. but it depends on those residents wanting to make their lives better. once they find employment they have to open a bank account and keep receipts of all spending. those who are unemployed must list names of their job search. the successful ones who leave have accumulated a few thousand dollars, found stable housing and are on their way. it's a 30day plus program depending on their willingness to help themselves.

I was severely confused and disorientated roaming around Wheatridge in the 60's. Is it still just a cemetary and industrial-site with nearby housing? I understand his plight. Reply
