Radical Muslim Cleric Killed in FBI Raid

(Newser) – The leader of a radical Islamic sect was killed by the FBI today in a shootout in a Detroit suburb, part of a series of raids against the group, said to be plotting “an offensive jihad” in order to establish a state governed by Sharia law. Luqman Ameen Abdullah, 53, opened fire when agents raided a warehouse; six others were taken into custody.

Abdullah, also known as Christopher Thomas, was imam of a Sunni sect called “Ummah, a group of mostly African-American converts to Islam, which seeks to establish a separate Sharia-law governed state within the United States,” according to a press release. In all, 11 men face charges; two are still at large.

Jamerican - by that token, so are all Catholics - I lived in London during the peak IRA bombing campaign - kids, women, even horses on one occasion were 'collateral damage' in this civil war, fought by the 'freedom fighters' of the Irish Republican Army. They were all religious men - Good Catholics, who had huge Catholic burials and would knee cap any Protestant on principle - even if they were teenagers (kneecap is when they take a hardware drill and drill through both your kneecaps so you are permanently crippled) anyway, point it, don't let a few bad apples ruin the barrel. The majority of Muslims are not just disgusted and appalled as you are - and Pakistan, Iraq and Indonesia show, they are targets too.

Though I seldom agree with you about anything, jamerican, I agree with you about Islam, and their intentions. What you would likely disagree with me about, is that the faith based religion that is dominate in our nation, is almost as bad -- the difference being, that it doesn't have the power, and is not followed as "religiously" as Islam is.

really. does mother teresa fit that description also? listen, i admit that there are those suppsedly "driven" by their religion to engage in wars, often times terrorism, but the religions themselves do not teach these things. Christianity preaches understanding and tolerance, Islam talks about purity and temperance. You know who makes the religion sound bad? the followers. You can criticize religions but do not base them off the followers. (dont get me wrong, I dont hate you, just those who criticize religion without talking about the theology of it.)
