(Newser) – Sarah Palin has lashed out against Levi Johnston for his digs against her, calling him "mean-spirited" as well as "desperate" because he's appearing in Playgirl. "We are appalled at the inflammatory statements," Palin said yesterday through her spokeswoman. She said Levi's comments on CBS yesterday that she calls her son with Down Syndrome "retarded" were "mean-spirited, malicious and untrue." Trig "is our 'blessed little angel' and is lovingly called that every day," she added.

Palin blasted CBS for giving Johnston a platform to air his comments on the Early Show, where he said he has more dirt on Palin, which he'll dish in his upcoming book, reports Gawker. Consider "the source of the attention-getting lies," Palin said. "Those who would sell their body for money reflect a desperate need for attention, and are likely to say and do anything for even more attention." Johnston is to appear in an upcoming issue of Playgirl, but it remains to be seen how much of his body he'll bare.

The more money Levi makes promoting himself the more he'll pay in support for his child. No alimony for the Mom, of course, since she never closed the deal to become Mrs. Johnson. The entire extended clan is milking their fame for all its worth. In the end, I do think Levi could end up with a career at least as enduring and lucrative as Bert Reynolds'. And he's way better looking, for sure!!!
