Bachmann Health Care Rally Draws Thousands

Protesters will roam Capitol hallways to confront lawmakers

(Newser) – Thousands of health care reform protesters gathered in Washington today as part of Michele Bachmann’s “Super Bowl of Freedom.” Participants wielding signs like “Waterboard Congress” and chanting "kill the bill" congregated outside the Capitol to hear Bachmann, other GOP lawmakers, and even Jon Voight assail the reform legislation as too costly and too partisan. “Are they going to listen?” Bachmann asked the crowd. “Oh, yeah, they’re going to listen.”

Protesters also planned to visit the corridors of the Capitol, part of Bachmann’s plan to confront recalcitrant legislators, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports. Says the Democratic National Committee: "If the Republican party wants to make Michele Bachmann the voice of the party, that's more than fine with us."

And did you even take the time to READ the notes on that website that explain where they get their information and how they calculate it??? For one thing, the amount they show is ONLY the amount that has been approved via congress... to date. Do you think the war will be over today... hence no money will be spent tomorrow? And do you have any idea how much money is spent OUTSIDE of congressional approval? For instance: Did GWB spend any money investigating his insane Iraqi invasion BEFORE he even declared war? Where do you think that money came from? Do you think GWB paid for it out of his personal bank account? Secondly, how much do you think the Iraqi war has depleted the built up reserves of military equipment and resources that existed BEFORE he invaded? This website does not account for how much money the taxpayers will have to spend to get the military back to pre-invasion stockpiles. I could go on and on... but this isn't the place to write a 20 page desertion... and i've got a funny feeling you wouldn't agree with me anyways.

I am a conservative. This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the U.S. Department of Energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by a municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC-regulated channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like, using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. I watched this while eating my breakfast of U.S. Department of Agriculture-inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. At the appropriate time, as regulated by the U.S. Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the U.S. Naval Observatory, I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration-approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build by the local, state, and federal Departments of Transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the U.S. Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school. After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health administration, enjoying another two meals which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to my house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and Fire Marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all its valuables thanks to the local police department. And then I log on to the internet -- which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration -- and post on Freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right.

Canadians like their socialized medicine & we currently have a conservative govt. that would not take away this right. The rest of my family lives in your country & they hate the health insurance companies. They envy our health plan too. I have private insurance for prescription drugs and my premiums are a lot less than what you pay. Our drugs are cheaper & this frustrates senior citizens in your country.

He sincerely thought he was more revered than was actually the case. Everywhere he went, he was attracting large throngs of young people, as well as black voters. The 800 pound gorilla in the room, was Bon Jovi, Bruce Springstein and an unending supply of top shelf celebrities at his beck and call. He really does not walk on water, except from December thru February,when anyone can. The proof was pretty evident this past Tuesday in VA. and NJ. The black voters stayed home and the under 30 crowed could be found at the mall, walking around while wildly texting, like a retarded praying mantis. The only chance the Dumbicrat party has of being competitive next year is trying to woo the superstars like 2008. I can't wait to see how that works out. Reply
