(Newser) – A mouse sighting delayed a Delta flight from JFK to London last night, the New York Timesreports. Passengers were switched to another plane after the tiny intruder was spotted in the cabin. "Plain and simple, there’s not supposed to be a mouse on the airplane,” an airline rep said. The flight finally took off more than two hours late.

JetBlue employee curses out passenger, exits using emergency slide

(NEWSER) - A potty-mouthed passenger was the last straw for a JetBlue flight attendant who cursed out the customer on the PA system of an arriving flight at New York's JFK airport today, then deployed the emergency slide to make his getaway. Steven Slater was arrested at his home nearby and charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment, reports the New York Post . "I can’t believe Steve’s on the run," said a neighbor. American, Delta, United, US Airways, JetBlue make a deal

(AP) - Five major carriers agreed today not to follow the lead of a small Florida airline that plans to charge for carry-on bags. Their commitment comes just in time to keep travelers from running for the exits during the peak summer flying season, but it is doubtful that it marks a change in strategy. The promise to Sen. Charles Schumer from American, Delta, JetBlue, United, and US Airways comes even though some of the carriers are expected to report first-quarter losses next week. More»

(AP) - Add American Airlines to the list of carriers that want out of the government's new rule that limits the time passengers can be held on the tarmac. American has joined JetBlue and Delta in filing for a temporary exemption with the Department of Transportation, saying delays caused by the closure of the main runway at New York's JFK airport could cost them millions in fines. Iris Cards Let Travelers Skip Customs

US signs deal with Holland, and more are on the way

(NEWSER) - A new digital card will allow Americans to skip customs lines at a foreign airport for the first time, reports USA Today. In a deal between Homeland Security officials and the Netherlands, US travelers approved for the ID card will be able to speed through Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, while Dutch citizens can do the same at JFK and LAX. The new cards contain an embedded image of the traveler's iris that verifies identity. More»
