Pakistani Intelligence Sheltering Taliban Leader

Mullah Omar hiding in Karachi: US sources

Share

(Newser) – Pakistan’s intelligence service is secretly sheltering the Taliban’s top leader, US intelligence sources tell the Washington Times—helping Mullah Omar escape from the town of Quetta, along the Afghanistan border, to the port city of Karachi, deep within Pakistan. The sources say Mullah Omar is leading a new senior leadership council in Karachi, which the US and Pakistan have yet to target in their counter-terror campaigns.

Seriously? I thought this was old news. I don't know why we ever considered Pakistan our "ally" and continue to treat them as such. Reply

Let us not forget: The U.S. created the Taliban, and funded them, and they were our proxy fighters against the USSR, just like Israel is our proxy fighter on many fronts. The Taliban were our ally. The Taliban have been Pakistan's ally. There's a lot we have to learn about the Taliban. In many areas, the Taliban is liked and respected because they provide help and assistance to the people of the area, where the government of Afghanistan and, perhaps, Pakistan does not provide these services. In the end, all is not as it seems. Reply

So_cal_larry... Next time tone it down a little, it could go right over some of these knuckleheads... heads... Let's just admit this isn't a war for iraqi freedom, or counter insurgency... If we would have left them alone after the russians were gone 9/11 would never have happened... You don't come into someone elses backyard and tell them how to live their life. You try to tell the wrong people and BOOM BOOM Reply
