Americans Want JFK on Mt. Rushmore

And they don't have a clue about health plan's public option

(Newser) – JFK could one day join Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Roosevelt in rock now that a wide-ranging poll by VanityFair/60 Minutes has found he's the president most Americans would most like to see added to Mount Rushmore. Other revelations:

  • Though it's a hot-button topic in the health-care debate, Americans are fairly clueless on what exactly the public option is: only 26% said they could explain it to a fellow citizen, while 66%—split evenly down party lines—admitted they couldn't.

  • Going Rogue might be a bestseller, but Sarah Palin's got nothing on Rush Limbaugh: 26% of respondents said Limbaugh was the most influential conservative in the US, compared with Glenn Beck (11%), Palin (10%) or Dick Cheney (10%).
  • Asked what music they'd least like to be tortured with in a Guantanamo-esque setting, 28% picked Britney Spears over Rage Against the Machine, the Bee Gees, Nine Inch Nails or AC/DC.

The Kennedy family has enough money to put the whole family on any mountain. I suggest they do just that unless of course they would like to help out with our massive debt.

I agree that JFK should not be carved into the side of Mt. Rushmore. I liked him but didn' vote for him as I was too young and would not have even if I could. JFK really didn't do anything for this great nation. Maybe if he had had the time. However Ronald Reagan DID do plenty of things for our country as well as around the world. The next person on the mountain should certainly be Reagan. What a wonderful American and President he was. I truly believe he loved this country and peace. I just hope that Obama will never be put up there. He doesn't deserve it just like he didn't deserve the Nobel Peace Prize or the black belt they gave him wherever the hell he was this last trip.

I've thought about this before. Why find a new spot nearby and created Rushmore II? I would include Kennedy, Reagan.. hm, Ike (more for his role in WWII than his presidency).. and FDR I guess.
