O'Reilly to Huckabee: Clemmons 'Not Your Fault'

But other conservatives are less understanding

(Newser) – Mike Huckabee’s a “standup guy,” and shouldn’t beat himself up for granting clemency to suspected cop killer Maurice Clemmons, Bill O’Reilly told him last night. “It’s not your fault, governor,” O’Reilly declared. “I mean, look, you’ve got 1,200 of these cases a year. You gotta look at them. … I don’t think anyone watching thinks it’s your fault.”

O’Reilly instead focused his rage on the judges who most recently allowed Clemmons to go free, by setting a mere $15,000 bail after his recent rape charges. But conservative bloggers haven’t been as forgiving. They’ve been drubbing Huckabee over the incident. “This disaster is just one of Huckabee’s ill-considered clemency legacies,” opined Michelle Malkin, while Erick Erickson of RedState blog marveled, “How many Willie Hortons can one man have?”

Umm..make a complaint about the Bail Bondsman/woman who put up the $135,000 for his bond. Yes, his part of the bail was only 10 percent which comes out to $15,000.00. So, the judge put $$ which set or asked at a level the DA thinks should keep him in jail. Another way of saying, can he come up with the 10 percent, can he find a Bond company to put up bail money which they might lose if he finds himself in trouble again while out on bond, and does the DA think he will comment another crime while on bail..... So, there is a lot of blame to go around other then Huckabee, and the Judge. How about the DA, Bond Company, and those who put up the 10 percent bail bond.

He was granted clemency because he faced life in prison with no chance of parole at the age of 16. Huckabee shortened it to 40 something years with the chance of parole.
