The Obama administration is urging Harry Reid to do what he has to to secure the support of Joe Lieberman. Lieberman has gummed up the Democrats' plans for the health care reform bill by announcing his firm opposition to the expansion of Medicare to Americans 55 to 64, and Reid is apparently unwilling to eliminate a major provision—one on which other senators' support may rely—for his sake.

"There is a weariness and a lot of frustration that one person is holding up the will of 59 others," a prominent official tells Politico. “There is still too much anger and confusion at one particular senator’s reversal.” (More Joe Lieberman stories.)
