(Newser) – Police vehicles can be seen speeding toward groups of Iranian activists and running at least one of them over in a shocking video believed to have been taken during protests last weekend. A person lies crumpled in the road at the end of the video as activists scream, and it's unclear whether he or she has been killed, CNN reports.

Iranian authorities say seven people were killed during the demonstrations, most of them due to being struck with "hard objects or due to similar causes." President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has called the anti-government protests "a nauseating play" and blamed America. "Iranians have seen lots of these games," he said yesterday. "Americans and Zionists are the sole audience of a play they have commissioned and sold out."
