Twins Born Seconds Apart, in Different Decades

Florida brothers come into the world near stroke of midnight

(Newser) – A weird quirk of the calendar in a Tampa delivery room: Marcello Velasco was born at 11:59:37pm on New Year's Eve, and his identical brother, Stephano, arrived at 12:00:02. Which means that not only do they have different birthdays, but they arrived in different years and decades, notes the Tampa Tribune. "They'll always be twins, but now they each have their own special day," says dad.

Two identical twins in Florida will have different birthdays.

Oh my god...you're an idiot. Who says the baby has to be a year old to START living in a new decade? Just as a child's life begins after the first second, so does a new decade! The 80s started on January 1, 1980...NOT 1981, you fool.

You realize that since there was no 'Year 0' The new decade doesn't start until 2011. Or do you guys also believe the 21st century started in 2000, not 2001. Year 0-9 was not a decade because there was no year 0. The first decade was year 1-10, the second was 11-20, therefore our latest decade is year 2001-2010, and our next is 2011-2020. This makes your news team look like a very uneducated.

Now let's talk age. Your daughter is born when the New Year's Eve ball drops in New York, at midnight January 1st, 2010. How old is she on Jan. 1, 2011? One. In 2012? Two. In 2013? Three. In 2014? Four. In 2015? Five. In 2016? Six. In 2017? Seven. In 2018? Eight. In 2019? Nine. AND WHEN WILL SHE HAVE LIVED TEN YEARS (A DECADE)? On December 31st, 2019 at 11.59 pm (and 59 seconds). Thus beginning a NEW DECADE as the clock ticks to midnight on January 1, 2020. She will have lived 11 years on January 1, 2021. 1980 is in the 80s...and so is your I.Q.
