Gay-Marriage Foes Rest; Case Goes to Judge

Walker will deliberate; closing arguments in March or April

(AP) – The first federal case to decide if the US Constitution prevents states from stopping same-sex weddings came to an anti-climatic break today, with the defense resting its case after nearly 12 days of wide-ranging testimony on the meaning of marriage, the nature of sexual orientation, and the role of religion in shaping attitudes about both. Judge Vaughn Walker, who's hearing the case against California's Proposition 8 without a jury, will deliberate before hearing closing arguments, likely in March or April.

The case against California's gay-marriage ban, known as Proposition 8, has gone to the judge, who will deliberate before hearing closing arguments.

Besides the Bible is not American, whereas the Constitution is so if one or the other is 'more important' to Americans I would have to imagine it would be the latter AND I thought there was supposed to be a seperation of Church and State so how does the Bible even come into legal/political choices? I admit I am a simple Canadian woman but it seems pretty clear to me, maybe I just need new glasses??? ILLUMINATED - what a great middle ground idea, though I doubt that will be the average response you get. SPUDSY - again Ifind your argument sound and sensible.

The truth will out. People will be free. Love does conquer all. Marriage is an idea, a social construct, and not a sacrament. I hope it happens here in Cali, my homeland, for anybody brave enough to take it on.

That's one of my problems; the Bible coming before the Constitution. It's what allows the shooting of abortion doctors and terrorist acts against abortion clinics. Essential you are saying fuck secular law. The law in this country the ALL religions have to adhere to.
