Rip Torn Arrested for Breaking Into Conn. Bank

Actor was drunk, armed with revolver: cops

(Newser) – Rip Torn is due in court tomorrow after allegedly breaking into a bank while "highly intoxicated" and carrying a loaded gun, Connecticut state police say. The 78-year-old actor broke a window to gain entry to a Salisbury bank Friday evening and is being held on $100,000 cash bond, reports the Litchfield County Register Citizen. The Dodgeball and 30 Rock star, who has a history of drunk driving arrests, apparently thought he was in his own house, the bank president tells TMZ.

for some reason or other rip torn came up in conversation this morning over coffee...and now i read this. too weird.

Mr. Torn is from the "Old Hollywood" back in the days of black and white westerns and such. In the early 60's he wasn't getting the parts as westerns of his style were out of style and I remember the day he came to a school I attended to perform tricks with a Bull Whip and show us his "quick draw" among other western tidbits and basically encourage the kids to try hard in school and such.... I was glad years back to see him once more making it in Hollywood but his drinking has always been out of control as that is the way it once was. This breaks my heart and I do hope he can find as well as accept help for his drinking issues.
