(Newser) – An $80,000 BMW belonging to American soccer star DaMarcus Beasley was firebombed late Monday outside his home in an upscale neighborhood of Glasgow, Scotland, where he plays for the city’s Rangers club. Nobody was injured in the incident. A witness tells the Daily Record: “The guy put something under the car then walked backwards crouching down, making a line of petrol for about (16 feet). He lit it with what looked like a lighter and the car went up.”

It’s not the first time pricey rides belonging to Rangers players have been targeted, and the club condemned the crime as “deplorable” and promised better security. Beasley took to Twitter, first reporting, “Someone blew up my car …” and later adding, “Thanks again for ALL the messages and kind words. But, yea, I’m doin’ OK and in the market for a new car. LOL. Gotta try to find some humor.”
