(Newser) – For the first time in 2010, a movie other than Avatar ruled the weekend box office, as the Nicholas Sparks chick flick Dear John unseated the sci-fi phenomenon with a $32.4 million debut. James Cameron's latest, which opened Dec. 18, did $23.6 million to finish second and run its domestic total to $630.1 million. It has already passed Cameron's Titanic as the all-time international box office champ.

Is it true that that the storyline isn't all that captivating? The other trend in movies that I find annoying is when they use pale greens & yellows for non-animated features like, "War of the Worlds" and the "Transporter" franchise.

I just saw Avatar. It's popularity and income just proves that there are suckers born every minute. I'm just hoping ASCAP and or the SAG can block further attempts to eliminate people from films replaced by computer generated quasi-cartoons. It starts with capturing real people's images and leads to pure computation.
