Unexpected People With Roses Named After Them
Freddie Mercury and Paul McCartney are just two of the celebrities who are namesakes of roses.   (?dougtone)

Valentine's Day makes people think of roses. And when you think of roses, you think of ... George Burns, naturally. Maybe not, but the late comedian does have a variety of rose named after him. Mental Floss tracks down nine—actually, eight—more celebrities who've lent their names to the flower:

  • Dolly Parton
  • Freddie Mercury
  • Santana
  • Paul McCartney

  • Amelia Earhart
  • Julia Child
  • Rosie O'Donnell
  • Abraham Lincoln, namesake of no fewer than four cultivars
  • Chevy Chase—but this one is named for the town in Maryland, not Clark Griswold's alter ego
