Sadie the Scottish terrier will compete against others from her group today, and is favored to win. Should that happen, her breed is an 8-to-1 Las Vegas favorite to take the whole show. “As Tom Hanks is a great movie star, Sadie is special,” a breeder tells Bloomberg.
Not so fast! With 3 of the 7 group representatives yet to be decided, the 4 dogs who are assured a spot bear mentioning. They are a fan-favorite whippet, Chanel; Conrad the dreadlocked puli, who had won the herding group before; a French bulldog, Bru, the first of her breed to win the nonsporting group; and Walker, a toy poodle. Some 2,500 dogs were entered in the New York show, and yesterday’s holiday brought big crowds to Madison Square Garden. “It’s a madhouse,” an owner told the AP.
