Sarah Palin's Hand Is 'A Poor Man's Teleprompter'

Ex-Governor says she was tired, touts simple talking points

(Newser) – Sarah Palin is defending herself for writing notes on her hand during a Tea Party convention interview … sort of. She brought up the incident herself in an appearance on Sean Hannity's show yesterday. “Hey, remember those talking points that I had written on my hand?” she said. “Because I’d done seven speeches in four days and I’m running up to the podium, and you know, writing on your hand, well that’s a poor man’s version of a teleprompter…”

Palin went on to argue that the GOP need only embrace the simple things she’d written there—energy, tax cuts, and lifting American spirits—to win elections. The whole comment seems designed as a dig at President Obama’s reputed reliance on a teleprompter, Mediate observes. “Except…doesn’t that just make her a poor man’s version of Obama?”

We're preparing a story on the Tea Party - which we don't like! - and will publish it shortly. In the meantime, your Readers might consider joining our new Centrists Group at Linked In and might like to look at our new blog for and about Centrists, The Rest of U.S.

Extremists have become so loud, they’re deafening. And because they shout in perfect sound bites, the media birddog their every rant, however irresponsible or outrageous.

But we believe the political tide’s about to turn with a vengeance. No matter their party affiliation or lack thereof, Americans are disgusted with those who harass to harass, obstruct to obstruct, tear down to tear down. Compromise, consensus, bridge-building, and respect for differing viewpoints have been the hallmarks of American life as long as there’s been an America. We’re certain they will be again.

Please read: The Rest of U.S. – Who We Are and What We Stand For

If you like it, please circulate to your family, friends, and colleagues. Or perhaps to your favorite extremist!

Back on topic though, I can't believe how some people cannot see through this "poor every-woman" routine. She's used her savvy to rake in a tremendous amount of money and populist clout-- all without authentic challenge or putting her beliefs out on the line. For this, I think she's duped a lot of Americans. I'm excited about 2012-- once she is actually challenged on her beliefs instead of simply responsible to her facebook page, Fox News and softball stage speeches the majority of her followers will know what they're dealing with: a political infant with a 100-watt smile, folksy sound bytes and no spine.
