Blogger Plans Senate Run Online pioneer Mickey Kaus will challenge Barbara Boxer By Nick McMaster, Newser Staff Posted Mar 2, 2010 1:39 PM CST 8 comments Comments Mickey Kaus, a blogger for Slate. (Wikipedia) (Newser) – A prominent political blogger has taken out papers to challenge Barbara Boxer in the US Senate primary in California. Mickey Kaus of Slate likely plans to mount a centrist challenge to Boxer, reports LA Weekly, which scooped Kaus on the story. He says he wants to "argue, as a Democrat, against the party's dogma on several major issues (you can guess which ones)." Given his previously stated positions, those issues likely include immigration—he does not support amnesty—and the influence of unions, which he'd like to diminish. Kaus has a daily readership of about 30,000. He isn't independently wealthy, so he'll have to assemble a war chest on the fly, but Boxer's poll numbers have been weak lately.
