Dow Edges Up 2 Points

Traders avoid big bets ahead of jobless figures

(Newser) – Stocks fell from their daily highs but managed to preserve token gains as American Express said overall credit quality was improving and the Dow Jones-UBS Commodity Index rose 1.1%, the Wall Street Journal reports.

  • The Dow gained 2 points to close at 10,406.
  • The Nasdaq added 7 points, settling at 2,281.
  • The S&P 500 rose 3 points, closing at 1,118.
