Dow Edges Up 2 Points

Traders avoid big bets ahead of jobless figures

Stocks fell from their daily highs but managed to preserve token gains as American Express said overall credit quality was improving and the Dow Jones-UBS Commodity Index rose 1.1%, the Wall Street Journal reports.

  • The Dow gained 2 points to close at 10,406.
  • The Nasdaq added 7 points, settling at 2,281.
  • The S&P 500 rose 3 points, closing at 1,118.
