Bruni, Sarkozy Affairs!? France: Zzzzz

French don't much care if president, first lady are playing the field

(Newser) – Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni may or may not be carrying on various torrid affairs, but frankly, my dears, France doesn't give a damn. Amid swirling rumors of blatant infidelities, Cassandra Jardine of the Telegraph went hunting for the scoop—only to find a solid wall of indifference as to what the Sarkozys might be up to in their downtime. The rumors "were circulating in Paris two months ago," shrugs one ex-pat. "People’s love lives—their jardins secrets—aren’t news.”

"Monogamy bores me," Carla Bruni once told an interviewer. But “the French think nothing of it,” says a French writer. “It is only a rumor. It is a matter of privacy, and they can do what they want because it has nothing to do with politics. Because you cheat on your wife, it does not mean you will cheat on your country."

It's not that we don't care, it's that it's nowhere in the French media. The rumour is buzzing on Tweeter, which is nowhere near a widespread tool, and in the foreign press it seems. Almost not a word anywhere else, the rare pages with wider diffusion like the JDD or Arrêts sur Images have disappeared.

I didn't think I sounded judgemental., but thanks I can always listen to an opposing view if that is what you had.

It seems most if not all of these comments are made by men. Go for it if you think it's the way to go. Didn't seem to work real well for Tiger. There is no reason to make a real committment unless you love your mate and think you are better off in the long run to, "Dance with the one you brung."
