(Newser) – In what may perhaps be the strangest celebrity news of the day, Mike Tyson is getting his own television series…about pigeons. Animal Planet is teaming up with the former boxing champ for Taking on Tyson, which will follow his involvement with competitive pigeon racing, Broadcasting & Cable reports. “Tyson's passion for his pigeons takes my breath away," gushes an Animal Planet exec. "For years, he has been inspired by these birds that he feels have the ‘biggest heart' in the animal kingdom.”

“I feel a great pride acting as an official representative for all the pigeon fanciers out there. I want people to see why we love these birds," says Tyson, who has been raising pigeons his entire life. The show is slated to run in early 2011.

Tyson is pathetic and has been for years. My question, will they show him biting the heads of the losers?

Who knew Tyson and Darwin had so much in common?

Had no fricken clue that Tyson did this his whole life, nor why anyone would care to breed something like a pigeon, which are practically tame as it is! Go for a robin or a chickadee! But if it makes him happy and is kind to the little critters, I love birds and am glad somebody else does as well.
