There was no astounding comeback for the International team in this year's Presidents Cup, but Canadian Mike Weir beat the odds and delighted the crowd by defeating Tiger Woods in head-to-head golf yesterday. The US team took the tournament 19.5-14.5, with David Toms contributing a team-high 4.5 points, reports Golf.com.
Weir, the best International player at 3-1-1 for the tournament, pulled three ahead of Tiger after six holes. When Woods drove the ball into the lake he conceded the 18th hole—and the match—to Weir. Tiger's American teammate Woody Austin, who took an unscheduled dip in the same lake earlier in the tournament, showed up yesterday wearing goggles.
