(User Submitted) – A 20-year-old woman is the first person ever banned from buying or drinking alcohol anywhere in England or Wales. The police issued Laura Hall a Drinking Banning Order, which prohibits her from entering bars, pubs, clubs, or other establishments that sell alcohol. If she does, she risks a $3,800 fine. Police say they're just trying to help. "We want to rehabilitate her rather than send her straight to jail, and hope the banning order will help Laura address her problems," said a police spokesman. Erm The UK includes Northern Island and Scotland. The headline is incorrect. From your submission it sounds as though she has been banned from pubs in England and Wales only. This does not mean that she has been banned from all U.K. or even all British pubs. This is a common mistake but nevertheless a mistake. Please fix.

I don't see how this will be enforced. Will every bar in Britain and Wales have a picture of this woman? I mean this is a bit absurd...

That's a novel approach, but isn't it hard to enforce? A cop in every bar?
