(Newser) – Men everywhere will be glad to hear that a blundering surgeon who cut off a man's entire testicle when he was supposed to be removing a cyst is likely to lose his license. Nurses told a hearing in England that Dr. Sulieman Al Hourani appeared "rather surprised" as he held the severed testicle in his hand after the error, the BBC reports.

The investigating panel heard that the doctor—who was fired and returned to his native Jordan after leaving the unfortunate man lopsided—had, in a separate incident, injected himself with a powerful sedative meant for a patient. After being advised to give the patient 10 milligrams of midazolam, he gave the patient 8 mg and injected himself with the other 2 mg. He was later found "deeply asleep" in a staff lounge.

The doctor appeared "rather surprised" when he realized his error, nurses said.   (Shutter Stock)

Literally as the nurse turned away to get a transfixion stitch, the incident occurred and the testicle was removed. - Sarah Prichard, a lawyer for Britain's General Medical Council
