(Newser) – As Cameron Douglas awaits sentencing today on drug dealing charges, dad Michael is joining other family and friends in begging for leniency. Michael’s handwritten letter paints a picture of a child pressured by the two generations of fame that came before him and surrounded by other family members who struggled with substance abuse, including an uncle who died of an overdose in 2004, PopEater reports.

“He is an adult and responsible for his own actions,” Michael writes, but “genes, family, and peer pressure” contributed to his problems. “I have some idea of the pressure of finding your own identity with a famous father. I'm not sure I can comprehend it with two generations to deal with.” Cameron’s charges carry a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, but his lawyers are arguing for a maximum term of 3 ½ years.

This is what our justice system is all about. Money talks. Let it me you or I and our butts would be getting the maximum! What's good for the goose should be good for the gander!!! The first thing they need to do is wipe the smirk off from his face!

No Leniency. As the old saying goes.. He did the crime... do the time. His dad, i know loves his son very much, but he is sending the wrong message. Cameron is an adult who should be held accountable for his deeds.Don't blame pass generations, genes or peer pressure.
