Rudy Giuliani is going directly to values voters rather than risking confrontation with their kingmakers, and one aide says Rudy doesn’t need the brass on his side. The socially liberal GOPer hasn’t met with the Arlington Group and is the only Republican who hasn’t responded to a Family Research Council invite, the Hill reports.

Snubbed leaders say the religious right will stay home rather than vote for Giuliani. One said Hillary Clinton would be a better president for social conservatives because at least Republicans would block her agenda. Rudy’s people point to right-wingers that support him; the Hill points out they’re mostly business groups. Still, conservative rainmakers haven’t kept America’s Mayor from leading among churchgoers.
