(Newser) – People opposed to Arizona's tough new immigration law should stay away from Diamondbacks games and the Grand Canyon, say organizers of a national boycott of the controversial state. Tourists are being urged to avoid Arizona, and business groups are being told they should hold their conventions elsewhere, Reuters reports. The Arizona Hotel and Lodging Association says 6 conventions—including one for immigration lawyers—have already been canceled.

City officials in San Francisco have joined calls for an Arizona boycott, noting that similar pressure persuaded the state to make Martin Luther King Day a holiday. Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer said she is "disappointed" by calls for a boycott of her state. "They are only depriving the legal residents of Arizona when they do that," she told the Arizona Republic. "I think it's both unfortunate and unnecessary."

The Diamondbacks are like ambassadors from Arizona to the rest of the country, and the world for that matter, and we want fans to stay away until the law is rescinded or neutralized. - Boycott organizer Tony Herrera

Well I hope major league baseball does not vacant the Arizona all-star game. Not that I would go. But, professional sports and the NCAA are all tax exempt. What this mean is between all of them they make about 30 billion dollars they don't pay taxes on. Yet, we who make over 50 thousand dollars a year have to paid taxes. If this president has any balls then any professional teams or events that are cancelled he should immediately take away their tax exemption. If the fans want to boycott well that is their right. After all is he not the one that wants to spread the wealth. This would help the fed's pull in about 10 billon dollars in tax revenue.

Where are 90% of criminals from that are caught commiting crimes... from the other side of the mexican border. Not just mexicans but dozens of other nationalities. Terrorists are also part of the sweep. If I'm white and I go into a spanish part of town at 2am, what do you think happens? What's supposed to happen, they get pulled over by the police who "profiled" the white driver. That's life, and has always been life. What do use to protect yourself?
